About

A Freelance Artist for over 35 years, who is best known for his Doctor Who/Red Dwarf & Quantum Leap covers.

Colin began illustration for Doctor Who fanzines in the 1980's he then graduated to doing Warhammer illustrations for Games Workshop's White Dwarf magazine culminating in illustrating the whole 'Empire in Flames' Role playing book.

During this time he also began black & White illustrating for Marvel UK's Doctor Who Magazine's Archive features, which in turn led to painted Covers.

In the mid-late 1980's he also supplied detailed-pixilation Illustrations for WH Allen/Target releases 'The Key to Time' & '25 Glorious Years'  as well as the Cover Art for the 'Attack of the Cybermen' novelization. And many covers for Virgin's Doctor Who spin-off books including the cover and many illustrations for the 'Timelord' Role playing book.

In the mid 1990's Colin began supplying Cover Art for the Official BBC VHS tape releases for 33 Doctor Who stories, until the dawn of computer generated cover art.

Colin continued to hand - paint cover vignette illustrations for the BBC's in house 8th Doctor Who fiction novels, as well as designing the 8th Doctor's Companion 'Sam Jones'.

During this time he also became a regular cover Artist for Fleetway's Red Dwarf - Smegazine and Boxtree's Quantum Leap novels.

Realizing the traditional role of Cover Artists was dying, Colin trained himself to paint digitally and began working for various Art Agencies in the supplying of hand painted digital Art 'Straight for Publication'.

Never straying too far from Doctor Who, he began painting private commissions for Doctor Who fans... and in the 2020's began to produce a cover and then background's and Object Art-wraps for the BBC's Animations of Missing stories - Power of the Daleks/Shada/The Macra Terror and finally Evil of the Daleks.

Having suffered with Multiple Sclerosis for 10 years, Colin had been able to carry on his Professional Art career. However while meeting the deadlines before had previously been possible, a progression to his right hand and arm while working on Evil of the Daleks meant this was no longer a possibility.
